Once again, Kham’s pet elephant has been abducted and he must fight anyone in his way to find him.

Okay, for those you who have not seen the 2005 original movie The Protector don’t worry you don’t have to see it to understand what is going in this one. Those of you who have seen the 2005 original movie like me, might have briefly thought that the writers have taken a leaf out of Taken’s book by repeating what is essentially the same plot. I mean how unlucky can one man be too loose elephants twice. But unlike with Taken the filmmakers actually had the common sense to go bigger with the sequel.
Both Tony Jaa and Petchtai Wwongkamlao both reprised their roles from the previous film. During some of the fight sequences I was under the impression that Tony Jaa tried to adopt a similar slapstick style to his fighting that Jackie Chan is famous for with his movies. Although the fight sequences where very impressive, Tony seemed to approach the line but didn’t fully embrace the slapstick style.
Some of the computer generated effects seemed a little less than convincing others that were used in the movie. Most notable of the less convincing effects where some of the cars that where crashed during the action sequences.
