Victorian Government welcomes Australian release of I, Frankenstein

The Victorian Government welcomes the recent Australia-wide release of the new, Melbourne-made movie, I, Frankenstein which has grossed more than $71 million world-wide.
“Securing the pre-production, filming and post-production for Melbourne saw more than $35.5 million spent in Victoria,” Minister for Innovation Louise Asher commented.
“I, Frankenstein employed 1,176 Victorians, including more than 400 extras. It engaged more than 670 Victorian companies and employed 18 Victorians in head of department roles.“Large scale productions like I, Frankenstein use the latest complex production technology which provides major skills transfer and development opportunities for our local industry.” Ms Asher added.
Film Victoria CEO Jenni Tosi said filming the movie here was a great coup.
“The fact that another major production chose Melbourne to complete production and post-production, despite competition from other states, is a reflection of the outstanding talent available here and the appeal of Victoria as a production destination,” Ms Tosi said.
Ms Tosi explained that I, Frankenstein was filmed on location at Docklands and features Aaron Eckhart in the title role, British star Bill Nighy and Australian actors Miranda Otto and Yvonne Strahovski.
