Four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation find themselves bailed out by a drug and arms dealer who wants them to do some dirty work.

Spring Breakers is the first movie that I have seen that was directed by Harmony Korine and after watching this I think it might be a long while before I watch another one of his movies. Now Korine has a very unique style to directing style, though a movie with a director who has a flashy style is a good thing but not if it affects my overall enjoyment of the movie. Maybe as someone who does not live in America I’m just not supposed to get the whole importance of the ‘Spring Break’ holiday tradition and maybe my overall opinion of this movie might change after a second watching, after an appropriate lapse of time. Now despite James Franco’s performance, this is an example of how unimpressive some American crime movies can actually be.
