Donate to the National political ephemera collection

If you are being bombarded with 2013 election material and would prefer that it does not end up taking up space in the nearest landfill The National Library wants to collect an original copy of every published leaflet, poster, pamphlet, policy speech, press statement and other political ephemera from the September 7, 2013 federal election.
Ephemera Officer Catherine Aldersey said the Library was particularly interested in receiving material from marginal electorates, from communities with specific local issues as well as from regional and remote Australia.
‘The word ephemera actually means ‘not meant to last’ but we believe political ephemera tells an important story and we want to collect and preserve this material for future generations,’ Ms. Aldersey said.
Ms. Aldersey explained that political ephemera provides a unique perspective into Australia’s social and political landscape and the National Library will add the 2013 material to its existing political ephemera collection which dates back to the early 1900s.
