WWII vet Eddie Boyd is torn between providing for his young family and an unfulfilled dream of becoming a Hollywood star. He discovers a way to do both, but his dream leads him down a path of danger and tragedy.

Before watching this movie I knew nothing about the life of Canadian gangster Eddie Boyd. I will admit that I decided to watch this based on the preview. But sadly Citizen Gangster is one of the many movies that does live up to promises that its preview might have made to you when you first saw it. Eddie Boyd’s criminal career was probably fast paced and glamorous, sadly none of that seemed to transfer on to the screen. The movie also failed to paint Boyd as a sympathetic figure or delve into the reasons why he started to rob banks in any great detail.
