United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.

I have not read the book that inspired World War Z, though from what I can gather the book is nothing like the movie. Though the plot is interesting enough not to have you looking for the exits halfway through the movie, I have to wonder if sacrificing the length of the movie from nearly two hours to about ninety minutes could have helped with the pacing of the movie.
On some level I find that Zombie movies are always frightening. But there was something quite right about the zombies in this movie. It was an interesting touch having them swarm like insects but for a truly great zombie there needs to be a level of decay that just was not here, it was almost as if the filmmakers erred too much on the side of caution. This just was not with the zombies but also with the set action pieces throughout the movie.
