I was familiar to the soundtrack to Flash Gordon before I even watched the movie, this is because I came across the soundtrack in Mum and Dad’s record collection. Now if you get over the fact this movie really should not be taken seriously and treat it as a bit of a comedy you will actually enjoy watching this one, especially Brian Blessed’s performance as Prince Vultan. Granted the special effects a very dated, I would even go as far and say that a cheesy by 1980’s standards. I kind of got the impression that some of the effects looked like they would have been more at home in a Power Rangers episode. The only major complaint I have about Flash Gordon was there seemed to be few gaps in the story leading up to the finale.
