Canberra Hospital Free Public Wi-Fi Trial

Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher, commented that The Canberra Hospital has started a trial of free public Wi-Fi which aims to make the stay of patients and their families a little bit easier.
The Chief Minister explained that the trial will begin in the Paediatrics, Ward 12B (Rehabilitation) initially before expanding to Oncology, Central Outpatients, Emergency Department, and Renal Services areas of The Canberra Hospital later this year.”Paediatrics was specifically chosen to be a part of the initial stages of the trial to make the stay of children and their families in hospital a little easier,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister explained that during the trial period, ACT Health and Shared Services ICT will evaluate demand for the service, and will monitor Wi-Fi performance. It is expected that the trial will be expanded to some additional areas of Canberra Hospital later this year.
“Internet access will be filtered for appropriateness, and access will be capped to avoid excessive cost to Government. Service levels are designed primarily for browsing the Internet and accessing e-mails.” The Chief Minister commented.
