Cartridges for Planet Ark

This year Australia Post is working with Planet Ark, and ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ campaign Ambassador Layne Beachley, to collect more than 23 million cartridges.
“Since the program started in 2003, 9,800 tonnes of plastics, metals, ink and toners have already been recycled.” said Layne.
Beachley explained that these cartridges contain valuable metals such as steel, aluminium and copper, as well as ink, toner powder, plastics, rubber, silica and foam, which can be recycled.
“By recycling used printer cartridges through ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’, Australians can prevent 1,400 tonnes of valuable resources from going into landfill annually,” said Layne.
Printer cartridges can easily be dropped off for recycling in ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ collection boxes, located at participating post offices across the country. Australia Post also collects old mobile phones for recycling using the MobileMuster collection bins.
