Australian Botanic Gardens bloom in Australia Post’s new range of five stamps.
“Australia Post is delighted to release this second stamp issue in the series of Australian Botanic Gardens stamps. These major botanic gardens are an essential resource, engaging and inspiring thousands of people each year,” said Australia Post Philatelic Manager, Michael Zsolt.
Mr. Zsolt explained that the stamps feature the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens Hobart, Tasmania; Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra, ACT; Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah, NSW; Darwin Botanic Gardens, Northern Territory and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne, Victoria.
Mr. Zsolt commented that nearly half of all Australians aged 15 and over visit a botanic garden at least once a year. Botanic gardens are an important resource, maintaining collections of living plants for scientific research, conservation, education and enjoyment.
