Framed for crimes against the country, the G.I. Joe team is terminated by the President’s order, and the surviving team members face off against Zartan, his accomplices, and the world leaders he has under his influence.

Ok, another toy based movie from the good people of Hasbro, who with the release of this movie have redeemed themselves after the release of Battleship.
Now, to the best of memory growing up I did not have that much to do with GI Joe action figures or cartons, so it was good to see that five characters who were featured in the rise of Cobra made it to the sequel. There was some nice moments between Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum but it was not enough to save this multi-million dollar cluster-fuck.
I think that it is pretty clear that GI Joe: Retaliation has fallen victim to the curse of the sequel. Director Jon M. Chu has clearly demonstrated that he has no proficiency in directing the action genre, as his action sequences where incapable of generating an emotional response. Prior to the release of Retaliation as a director Chu was known for two of the three Step Up ‘sequels’.

In the event that there is a third movie, Chu should not be given the director’s chair.
