With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.

Ok, it has been a few days since I saw Django Unchained, forgive me, but I needed to take some time figure out exactly what I am going to say.

Django Unchained is everything that you would expect from a Quentin Tarantino movie, including a couple of familiar faces who have worked with Tarantino before. I was particularly impressed with the title sequence that seemed to tap into the retro feeling for the entire movie; there is also an intense gunfight that would I regard as easily being one of the greatest of all time.
Tarantino seems to have an almost sage like understanding of genre movies and with that understanding, it seems that he has breathed new life into the Western genre, which seems to have been on life support for the past twenty years.
