Women’s Australian Open coming to Canberra

ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher announced that the 2013 ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open, will be hosted at the Royal Canberra Golf Club for the first time.
“Royal Canberra will provide a superb setting for the event and along with Australian players Karrie Webb, Katherine Hull-Kirk and Canberra’s Nikki Campbell, there will be great competition to win the championship.” The Chief Minister commented.
Golf Australia Director of Championships Trevor Herden explained that Yani Tseng (world number 1), Stacy Lewis (world number 3), Suzann Pettersen (world number 6), So Yeon Ryu (world number 7) and Jiyai Shin (world number 8) are all confirmed to play. Mr. Herden added that the Women’s Australian Open is a co-sanctioned event between the LPGA and ALPG tours, with the $1.2 million prize purse the richest in the history of the tournament.
