A chronicle of the LAPD’s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s.

Guys considering that Ryan Gosling has been cast in this one, you might have legitimate chance of claiming this as a date night movie (Please let us know if you actually manage to do this). Gangster Squad was inspired by true events. It had a very similar feel to The Untouchables, though it did not seem to have its ‘Chicago way’ moment. Ruben Fleischer was an interesting choice as a director considering that he had never done anything like this before. Sean Penn was an interesting choice as Mickey Cohen, though as brilliant as he is an actor he really did not seem to be the right choice to portray an ex boxer (He just does not seem to have a face that looks like it has been punched). However, Josh Brolin gave a great performance and I have to wonder if he was considered for the role of Cohen.
