Casino Royale

Directed Martin Campbell
Staring Daniel Craig
Rating M
Score 3/6

Daniel Craig: a new Bond and a new chapter to the 40 year legacy of Ian Fleming’s Secret Agent. While most critics seem to be saying Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery, I think its to early to tell considering that this is Craig’s first time out with a license to kill.

Casino Royale shows us exactly how Bond received his 00 status. This Bond retrospective, raises some serious questions: Why remake the 1967 classic that stared Peter Sellers? Will we see another Bond movie? What does this version add to the all ready rich tapestry of the Bond Saga?
I was sadly disappointing in this movie. I feel it brings nothing new to the Bond lineage. The movie didn’t hold to the tradition of “Q” and the characterization of Felix Lighter was flawed. The writers of the movie have obviously succumbed to the growing world wide sensation of No Limit Texas Hold ’em poker – we all know that Bond’s game is Baccarat. When ever did Bond have a slice of lemon in his Martini?
