Australia Post has honoured the contribution around the globe of Australia’s Army personnel both past and present. When a set of five stamps where released depicting the changes in the Rising Sun badge design since it was first issued in 1902. Keith Payne VC OAM, congratulated Australia Post for its ongoing recognition of Australia’s military history and acknowledged the badge’s importance to Australian forces.
“The Rising Sun badge is a common thread that links Australian soldiers, representing their courage, initiative and teamwork, and we feature the evolution of the badge’s design on this set of stamps in the lead up to ANZAC Day commemorations,” said Michael Zsolt, Manager Philatelic, Australia Post.
