The Environmental Film Festival Australia Announces Canberra Program

file-page1-smallThe Environmental Film Festival Australia (EFFA) has announced its Canberra program for 2016. It kicks off on Thursday 13th October with Time To Choose – a comprehensive exploration of climate change from Academy Award Winning director Charles Ferguson – with screenings over Friday 14th and Saturday 15th. This year EFFA is also proud to announce acclaimed Australian author Tim Winton as festival patron. Tim Winton believes a festival like EFFA is critical as “We haves so many stories to tell and hear and still such a lot of stuff to discover and pay attention to. Bring it on!” He joins longtime environmental crusader Bob Brown as an EFFA patron.
Festival Director Chris Gerbing says this year’s festival will be “matching big ideas, with big conversations…we will be inspiring collective action, challenging age-old wisdom, sharing solutions, highlighting the power of our own choices and celebrating the world around us,” Gerbing went on to add “Since we last met, we’ve seen globally historical moments in environmental decision making. But challenges amass and the future of planet Earth must remain in all of our focus and the subject of our enquiries, our activism and our aspirations.”
Mr. Gerbing explained that the 2016 Canberra program covers a broad range of timely environmental issues including the nuclear energy debate (Atomic), food sustainability (Bugs On The Menu), community activism (When Two Worlds Collide), climate change (Time To Choose) and marine life conservation (Sonic Sea) The festival will also include a “EFFA on Wheels” bicycle tour of Lake Burley Griffen on Saturday 15th October with short film screenings to be held at secret locations.
