Applications for ACT Multicultural Participation Grants Program Open

Yvette Berry Minister for Multicultural and Youth Affairs is encouraging local community groups involved in promoting and nurturing cultural diversity across Canberra to apply for a share in the ACT Government’s $260,000 Participation (Multicultural) Grants Program.
Minister Berry explained that the main aim of the grant program is to enhance the community through the provision of supplementary funding for the development of innovative projects that shine a light on cultural diversity, social harmony and inclusion.
“Our city is home to one of the most vibrant and dynamic culturally diverse communities in Australia and we are focused on further enhancing the wonderful way of life we have here and ensuring it continues for future generations. We do this a number of ways including through policy development and program delivery but these grants truly allow community groups at a grassroots level to share and preserve their precious diverse cultures.” Minister Berry commented.
Minister Berry said that last year’s grants funded initiatives such as the Japanese Autumn Festival, Fiji Day celebrations, Maori cultural workshops, a German Lantern Parade and radio programs in languages including Mandarin.
Eligible groups may seek funding for projects under three categories in the application process including: 2017 National Multicultural Festival; Community Radio Stations and Multicultural Community Broadcasters; and multicultural community participation, social harmony and inclusion initiatives.

Online applications, will be accepted until 15 July 2016
