Dr Trauma selected for Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative

Screen Australia and Dynamic Television today announce Dr Trauma as the latest recipient of the Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative. From Brouhaha Entertainment (Boy Swallows Universe, A Talent for Murder), the series will receive $ 100,000 ($50,000 from Screen Australia and $50,000 from Dynamic Television), helping to support the project through the next stage of development, with global insights from Dynamic Television. The series will be produced by Troy Lum (Lee) and written by best-selling author Sarah Bailey.

A blend of psychological thriller and medical drama,
Dr Trauma centers around Evie Salinger, a talented quantum psychologist. A desperate mother seeks Evie’s help when her daughter begins experiencing terrifying nightmares and visions after receiving a heart transplant from a murder victim. The series is inspired by a true crime case in which an organ transplant recipient experienced visions associated with the donor, which helped investigators solve the crime.

“From the experienced Brouhaha Entertainment team, Dr Trauma is a contemporary and novel take on the crime drama genre. Together with Dynamic Television, Screen Australia is excited to be supporting this project and innovative Australian storytelling.” Screen Australia Director of Narrative Content Louise Gough commented.

“Dr Trauma explores a lead character we haven’t yet seen on television, and the crime stories we hope to explore in the series are deeply emotional and complex. We’ve long been admirers of the team at Brouhaha and are excited to be partnering with them in developing this show with the talented Sarah Bailey.” Carrie Stein, President, Global Scripted, Dynamic Television, commented.

  • The Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative, a collaboration between Screen Australia and Los Angeles-based Dynamic Television, supports distinctive scripted television projects that show potential for global success. Dr Trauma follows previous Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative recipients, including How to Kill a Client and Dark Mode.
