Movies are important. The creative process might be starting to change, but movies will always be important. Now, even though what I’m about to talk about has graduated to YouTube, physical media will always be important. My dvd collection is bigger then I care to admit to and for the record I’m such a dinosaur I’ve held on to my VHS collection. Though now looking back on things I kind of wished that I held on to a VCR. Anyway, back in the day when I was younger, prettier and lighter some of the ways I’d deal with things involved talking to my cat (he was a really good listener) and when he didn’t want to deal with my crap I watched movies. Well not entire movies, specific scenes. Scenes that would make me laugh, cry, feel proud, it didn’t matter, just so long as it would take me out of whatever I was feeling at the moment. Movies above all else should be regarded as something magical. They are capable of so many things. So whenever I was in one of these moods I would go to my collection and start grabbing movies, this would have been easier to do if my collection had some sort of order to it. But, I suppose that was part of the process. With my armful of movies I would sit on the floor and just play these movies. Sometimes replaying the same scene 5 or 6 times. Now, YouTube? Well they made they made the process easier. Giving me less to clean up once I was done. Now, looking back on things, yes there was definitely more healthy ways of dealing with things. But in my defence at the time I was dealing with teenage logic. The worst kind of logic. Do I still yes. But perhaps not always to deal with my problems. The list?
