News from the HOYTS weekend box office starting Friday, August 14. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swinging for new heights as it holds its position in the top spot for its third weekend, generating an additional $9.36M. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey earnt silver again this weekend, earning another $3.65M, bringing the total box office to $52.8M at the box office. A new house joined the block as The End of Oak Street came in at third, taking home $1.57M on its opening weekend. One Night Only jumped into number four on its opening weekend, earning $423k. And coming in at number five is the musical documentary KATSEYE: Wild Hearts, which generated $359k on its opening weekend.  The top 10 movies together contributed to 94% of the total national box office gross for the weekend. The top genre of the weekend was action, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey continuing to lead the Australian box office.

Top 10 Movies

1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day kept the top spot on its third weekend, generating an additional $9.36M. The movie now has an astonishing $69.3M at the box office.
2. The Odyssey earned $3.65M over its fifth weekend, this takes the movie’s cumulative box office to an incredible $52.8M.
3. The End of Oak Street took home $1.57M on its opening weekend.
4. One Night Only earned $423k on its opening weekend, with advance screenings, the movie now has a total $587k at the box office.
5. KATSEYE: Wild Hearts generated $359k and the #5 spot on its opening weekend. With advance screenings, the movie now has a cumulative box office of $454k.
6. Toy Story 5 brought home $257k over the weekend, taking the movie’s total box office to an amazing $46M.
7. Holy Days earned $232k this weekend, the movie now has a box office total of $848k.
8. Tamil title, Vishwanath & Sons, generated $225k throughout its opening weekend.
9. Moana brought in another $200k this weekend, the movie now has a total $15.9M at the box office.
10. Rounding out the top 10, Hindi title, Awarapan 2, took home $180k on its opening weekend.
