Greg Gould Releases Powerful NewSingle “RUNNING” from Award-Winning Film “BODY BLOW”

Acclaimed Australian vocalist and songwriter Greg Gould returns with “Running” – the powerful closing credits theme from the award-winning feature film Body Blow, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dean Francis. The release arrives as Body Blow prepares for its highly anticipated Australian premiere at Sydney Film Festival on June 10.

Demand for the film has been so strong that the original screening sold out, prompting festival organisers to move the premiere to a larger cinema to accommodate audiences eager to experience one of the most talked-about Australian independent films of the year. Following the premiere, audiences will be invited to BODY BLOW LIVE – the official after-party event featuring live performances from Greg Gould, the iconic Paul Capsis and the film’s star Tim Pocock, celebrating the music, stories and spirit behind the film.

The new track “Running” is an anthemic pop-rock ballad driven by soaring vocals, cinematic production and epic soundtrack energy, it captures the emotional heartbeat of the film, blending vulnerability, resilience and hope into one unforgettable finale. Written and performed by Gould, the track serves as the emotional conclusion to a story already generating international acclaim on the festival circuit. “Running” is the first single to be released from the forthcoming Body Blow Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, due for release in August. Gould wrote and performs three original songs featured throughout the film, with each composition helping to shape the emotional landscape of the story and further immersing audiences in its world. The soundtrack also features original compositions from Andreas Dominguez, Tim Pocock & director Dean Francis.

Starring Tim Pocock, Tom Rodgers, Paul Capsis, and Sacha Horler with Chris Haywood and a special appearance by Kween Kong, Body Blow is a bold and visually striking Australian feature exploring love, identity, addiction, corruption and survival against the backdrop of Sydney’s queer underground nightlife scene.

For Gould, contributing to the soundtrack was an opportunity to create something truly cinematic. “It’s an absolute honour to be part of a critically acclaimed film like Body Blow. ‘Running’ was my chance to write a huge cinematic anthem – something with that classic James Bond-style emotion and scale – and I honestly poured everything I had into it. I loved working with award-winning director Dean Francis to capture the essence of the film through these songs. It’s such a complicated yet beautiful love story that sends you on a rollercoaster of emotional twists and turns. Body Blow is definitely the one to watch this year – but don’t take my word for it. The film has already been collecting awards around the world and continues to captivate audiences wherever it screens.”

Director Dean Francis praised Gould’s contribution to the film and soundtrack. “Greg has one of those rare voices that can deliver both extraordinary power and genuine emotional vulnerability. From the moment I heard ‘Running’, I knew it perfectly captured the spirit of Body Blow. The music became an important part of the storytelling, and Greg brought a level of passion and authenticity that elevated every scene his songs touched. The result is something audiences will continue thinking about long after the credits roll.”

As anticipation builds ahead of its Sydney Film Festival debut, Body Blow continues to establish itself as one of the most exciting Australian independent films of the year, with “Running” providing a powerful first taste of a soundtrack set to leave an equally lasting impression. “Running” is available to download and on all streaming platforms now.
