For those of you who have read my review Ghost Rock will know that I spoke of another movie that is on my all-time favorite of mine which I had tracked down on DVD because my copy of it was in VHS. Well River Street is the movie that I was talking about and it finally arrived in the post. I don’t recall ever having seen a trailer for River Street, in fact I happened across the movie by accident on the ex-rental shelf of a neighborhood video rental store in Kingston. It should be noted that I’m not that familiar with director Tony Mahood’s though from what I can gather about his work the only other movie that he has directed was released ten years before River Street in 1986. I know that i might be gushing a little while talking about river street, so if you ever watch it be sure to post a review, I’m interested to hear what people think. While watching this I’ll admit there was a nostalgic wave that washed over me while I watched this. You’d be interested that are more then a few familiar faces cast in this including Essie Davis (way before her days on Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) and screen legend Bill Hunter.

I suppose what hooked me about River Street was the retroactive storytelling that was used to frame the entire plot of the movie ( i was a simple creature when i first came across this movie and in a lot of ways I probably still am). But there is a little bit more to this gem of a movie, it goes on to make points about how the person you are might not always be the person you really are and how that friends who have had an impact on your life will find a way to help you when you need them.
