Emma Lea Corbett, known by her stage name, Suzie Q, built a successful career out of wearing nothing more than high heels. But beneath the glittery eye shadow and girly charm is a savvy businesswoman at the head of a successful business empire. While performing as an exotic dancer, she began her Communications degree at university, thus beginning her double life as a university student by day and stripper by night. Despite completing her degree she chose to turn her passion for pole dancing into a career – learning not only about the business of getting naked for money but the importance of following your heart, even if society (or your parents) don’t approve.

Okay, everybody what we have here is an important review, in the sense that this is the first book I have review that has any narrative flow to it and before I get to far into things if you want to see more book reviews featured on The Movie Boards be sure to leave a comment.

For all the jokes that I make about not having read any books that have been adapted into movies I suppose I finally have proof that I read.
When I first started reading this I was immediately reminded of Diablo Cody’s 2005 book Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper in the sense that both books have the kind of flow that made both books fairly easy to read. Now those of you who are expecting some sort of deep dive into the world of stripper you probably should find a different book. Now I will admit it while reading I did have a slight case of meh (maybe not the best word choice, but I’m running with it) but I found myself being won over by Corbett had to say and was awe of the drive that she has. I also found myself agreeing with what she had to say about feminism.
