Stateside Interview

A big thank you to Ethan from the band Stateside for taking the time to answer some questions.

When and how did Stateside form?

Stateside actually started out in high school! Erin, Brendan and Ethan all attended a school called Music Industry College, and from there the only thing missing was drums and after multiple try-outs we finally found Hamish who really completed our sound. A couple years later our good friend Jackson LeHane finally moved up from Sydney and now we’re the band we are today!

Where can we get the new EP?
is this your first EP?

Our new EP ‘Naïve’ is available from almost every possible online store including Apple Music and Spotify!

In 2014/15 we wrote and recorded a bunch of demos that we put together and released under the title ‘Burning Bridges’. These songs all helped shape our current sound, however are currently not available online.

What can audiences except from your shows on your Naïve tour?

We don’t want to give to much away as these will be the biggest shows we’ve ever done as a band, however we’ve planned a good mix of old and new songs and even a few surprises. We can’t wait and hope to see you there!

What are your musical influences?

Our band all listens to a wide array of music, and we all draw our own personal influences, however over the years we’ve all collectively been influenced by bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, PVRIS, Tonight Alive and All Time Low!

What song on the EP best encapsulates your sound as a band?

Personally, I think that our song ‘Neon’ best encapsulates the sound of our band. It draws on the heavier elements from ‘The Way We Were’ and infuses them with the poppier elements from songs such as ‘Jaded’.

Are there any plans to tour America?

We currently don’t have any plans to tour America. Touring internationally, and especially to the states would be a dream come true for us, so we think that it’s only a matter of time until Stateside goes stateside!

I have to ask, because I review a lot of movies. What is your favourite movie?

As our band is all super close as friends, some of our favourite movies to watch together include Hot Rod, Napoleon Dynamite and The Cat In The Hat!
