2 Weeks Until Tuggeranong Residents get Green Waste Bins

With just two weeks left until green waste bin collections start in Tuggeranong, the first green bins have been delivered to residents who have opted-in for the service.
“From today, Tuggeranong residents who have registered for the green waste collection service will start to receive their 240 litre green waste bins which will continue to be delivered over the next few weeks,” Minister for Transport and City Services Meegan Fitzharris commented “Over 6,000 residents expressed interest in obtaining a green waste bin in Tuggeranong, and over 5,000 have already signed up for the service.”
Minister Fitzharris explained that Green waste bin collections for Tuggeranong are due to start on 22 January 2018 in Banks, Bonython, Calwell, Chisholm, Conder, Fadden, Gilmore, Gordon, Gowrie, Greenway, Isabella Plains, Macarthur, Monash, Oxley, Richardson, Theodore, Wanniassa and Tharwa. The Minister said that residents will receive a pamphlet to accompany their green waste bin which will answer some of the questions they may have about their collection day, and what can and can’t go into the bin. Green waste bin collections are scheduled to begin in Belconnen in September 2018, ahead of a further roll out in mid-2019.
“If you live in Tuggeranong and are interested in getting one of the bins that has started to pop up in your street, then it is not too late to register. A one-off registration fee of $50 is required, with eligible concession card holders exempt from payment,” Member for Brindabella Joy Burch commented.
“This is a great way to help keep your garden in tip top shape. We know it’s something the people of Tuggeranong have been calling for, so I’m really pleased to see that green bins are now be a reality for Tuggeranong residents,” Member for Brindabella Mick Gentleman commented.
