Monster Trucks

Director Chris Wedge
Staring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Thomas Lennon
Rated PG
Score 3/6

A young man working at a small-town junkyard discovers and befriends a creature which feeds on oil being sought by a fracking company.

If you haven’t heard of this one, it’s okay you probably don’t have children. Though it should be noted from what I have read about Monster Trucks its cinematic release date in America was pushed back several times. Also, Monster Trucks should be added to the list of movies I probably should not have seen at the cinema because I am over the age of 30.

For the most part this light-hearted movie though there is the obvious environmental message of ‘fracking is bad’ and a few laughs thrown in for good message. Both Lucas Till and Jane Levy gave decent enough performances and there was a supporting cast full of full of actors whose name you’ll remember once the movie has ended. I suppose the only downside of Monster Trucks was casting of Rob Lowe as the owner of the oil company. There really was not that much to his character and in turn it seemed that Lowe ‘phoned in’ his performance.
