SketchSHE to host Megastar Mobile Talent Competition

Aussie YouTube comedy group SketchSHE has signed on as the first global host of the world’s first mobile talent competition, Megastar, following the announcement of DanceOn, a dance-focused entertainment company co-founded by Madonna, as the first performers. The SketchSHE trio, comprised of three models-cum-comedians Shae-Lee Shackleford, Lana Kington and Madison Lloyd, are best known for their viral lip sync videos in the car, including their biggest hits Bohemian Carsody and Mime Through Time.

SketchSHE said they were impressed by Megastar’s initiative to digitise talent competitions and take them to the global stage. “It’s such an obvious parallel between the popular TV talent show format and the whole YouTube and socially-connected world that no-one has actually done yet. It’s the platform that gave us our start so we are pumped to get involved with Megastar,” the trio commented “We love that Megastar bridges the gap between talent and the rest of the world as their global audience. We were fortunate enough to experience the power of the internet first-hand, and we are excited to share the rollercoaster experience with others as they get to showcase their talents to the world.”

Sophie McGill, Executive Director of MSMCI Asia-Pacific, said the group’s profile, screen presence, sense of humour and extensive social media following was a perfect fit for this world’s first mobile talent competition initiative. “SketchSHE’s videos have more than 100 million views on YouTube, demonstrating just how popular their content is. Their extensive ability to develop, create and their already established social media footprint will significantly assist with the amplification of the Megastar competition upon launch,” McGill commented “SketchSHE also use a smartphone to record their videos, something that we feel perfectly demonstrates the power and breadth of mobile phones in the entertainment world today.
McGill explained that Megastar is a revolutionary, mobile-based technology platform designed to take major talent competitions from the TV screen to smartphones. The format combines elements of social media, gaming and live entertainment, and will launch with a grand prize of $US1 million in the coming months.
