A young man is bestowed with incredible martial arts skills and a mystical force known as the Iron Fist.

While sitting down to right this review I am about two-thirds of my way through the new series Iron Fist. Because of all the other shows in the Marvel Television Universe Iron Fist has a certain amount of good will for it to play with. It’s also good to see that just like with the MCU Marvel is working towards something with its Television Universe with the fact Marvel is filming The Defenders which is to be released later in 2017.
Getting back to the good will that Iron Fist has I can’t help but think that some of that has been squandered because of how crowded the superhero genre is with new series being released at about the same frequency of games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Don’t get me wrong Iron Fist like the other Marvel Television Series are likeable and indeed very bingeable. Finn Jones even though I am completely unfamiliar with his work was likeable enough as Danny Rand/ The Iron Fist, it was good to see that Rosario Dawson’s character Claire Temple come again in Iron Fist and I thought that it was kind of cool to see Australian actor David Wenham was cast as Harold Meachum.
I can’t help but think that this likeability is because we things that are familiar to us and that even the laziest fan (like me) who is completely unfamiliar with the source material will be able to see how cut & paste a superhero television series can be. If there are going to be more superhero television series the genre needs bent or possible even broken to stop it from going stale.
